Breakfast
Nooks

09 March 2023 –
We can’t imagine a place better suited for that first cup of coffee.
Sit down and stay a while. These breakfast nook ideas are all about being at home and cozy.
While we do love a formal dining room, meals shared around a two- or four-top, or a built-in banquette, have that feeling of nostalgia that just can’t be replicated. We love a warm and inviting breakfast nook table. They feel more intimate and comfortable and provide the perfect breeding ground for the conversations we all wish we had more often.
Whether you have a large or small spare space in your kitchen, you can carve out a corner breakfast nook for morning coffees and casual meals. And much like powder rooms, the breakfast nook often provides the opportunity to make a design statement. They’re the place to enjoy meals, do homework with kids, and host small gatherings. No matter the style of the home, a breakfast nook is always a good idea. Here, a few of our favorite Studio McGee-designed breakfast nooks to give you inspiration and ideas to create your own.

Modern Charm

Stylish Storage
Shea and the design team designed the Tahoe Pines breakfast nook with open shelving. It’s the perfect place to display some of your prettier serveware, like this spongeware bowl from McGee & Co. or leaned cutting boards with pretty patinaed wood.

Intimate Dining

Pedestal Table
In our Maryland Heritage Remodel project, Shea and the design team carved out a space adjacent the kitchen for a smaller-scale dining moment. A dining table with a pedestal base, like McGee & Co.’s Oren Dining Table, makes the perfect companion to an intimate breakfast nook or dining setup.

Inside Hilltop Estate
A Nod to Farmhouse

Pedestal Table
Our Hilltop Estate project features a sweet moment with a slight nod to farmhouse design. The delicate spindles and tapered legs of McGee & Co.’s Reeves Chair are the perfect pairing to the delicate ruffles of the throw pillows and the stilllife floral painting.
