Your holiday home starts at the front door. Get all the tips and tricks—and loads of inspiration—for a Studio McGee-style holiday front door here.
When it comes to holiday front door décor, we take it very seriously. Shea and the design team love decking out the entrance to our holiday shoot homes to style up our latest collection. Holiday front door wreaths and holiday front door mats are obvious contenders to the styling game, but there are several different elements we love incorporating that set your holiday front door decorations apart from everyone else. Here are a few holiday front door ideas for how to create a warm, inviting entrance that will make guests excited to come into your home all season long.

Start with a doormat
A seasonal welcome.
When we’re starting to pull together our holiday front door décor, we always start with a door mat and always one that is rated for outdoor weather. Not only are they durable, weather resistant, and easy to clean (all you need is to hose them off!) but they come in so many different colors and patterns perfect for the holiday season.

Flank the door
Style each side to match.
If there’s room on either side of your front door, style it with matching elements to bring some symmetry to the overall look. When designing their holiday front door décor look, Shea and the design team love oversized planters with evergreen greenery inside. Holiday front door planters are an easy way to dress up your styling.

Utilize the architecture
Wrap pillars and drape doors.
If you’re lucky enough to beautiful pillars or columns on your front porch, now is the time to really style them out. These architectural elements are tailormade for holiday front door decorations. We love wrapping them in garland or ribbon and adding bows that flutter in the wind. In our most recent McGee & Co. holiday collection shoot, the home had intricate molding around the door frame, and Shea and the design team utilized it for a stunning draped garland moment that mimics the curves of the wood.

Adorn the door
A wreath goes a long way.
A wreath is a go-to styling element for your holiday front door décor. We love starting with a more basic frame and adding our own florals and berries to it. This lets you switch up your holiday front door wreath style every year.
